Igloo Teams up with JASCO Applied Sciences

JASCO SeaHawk Chimera

JASCO SeaHawk Chimera

Igloo Innovations Inc. and JASCO Applied Sciences (Canada) Ltd. are pleased to announce an agreement to integrate JASCO’s OceanObserver electronics suite into Igloo’s SeaHawk vehicles providing a powerful system for real-time passive acoustic monitoring (PAM), oceanographic data collection, and other missions.  By taking advantage of the SeaHawk Chimera UAV’s modular design, JASCO will be able to supplement the vehicle with various acoustic and non-acoustic sensor configurations including omnidirectional and directional hydrophones, small linear or spatial arrays, CTDs, and others.  The vehicles will be used to transport the sensor packages to the observation site, land on the water surface to deploy and recover the sensor packages using vehicle’s onboard winch system, and transmit acoustic detections, and other oceanographic measurements to the control station in real time while archiving the raw data onboard for post mission analysis.

“Partnering with JASCO gives us the capability to deliver on several of the applications we have envisioned for the SeaHawk Chimera.  We look forward to the opportunity to realize the value in a flying vehicle that can get wet and provide a platform to do real work.” says Igloo’s president, Jason Clark.
